Emily Post Would Be So Proud

Last night we had a wonderful family dinner, consisting of a TX size portion of steak and potatoes. As we were finishing up, the Hubby thought it was the perfect time to teach Cookie how to let the hostess know that she is "full."

Do you know what the sign is? Well, please allow my family to demonstrate...

Just simply lift your shirt to belly level and slap it while chanting, my belly is full!

I can only hope she doesn't do this on her first date. To make matters better, the Hubby also thought he would go ahead and teach Cookie how to compliment the chef...

Yep, a burp with love! I am sure Emily Post would be so proud. I can only hope that one day we will not end up like the Klumps family...

I hope that you all had a safe and happy weekend. Needless to say we spent the rest of our weekend working on our table manners.

Creating the Perfect Picture

KC is holding down the fort with Cookie this week while I am away. At the end of a long business day he always spoils me with the precious gift of pictures. This is my favorite of the week.

The creation of the perfect poise...

Can You Guess What is Wrong With the Picture?

Take a look at the picture below. Now, look very hard. Can you tell what is wrong with the picture? To the naked eye, one may think that it is just another cute picture of Cookie in her high chair...

Tired of guessing?

Okay, now brace yourself for the truth!

Yesterday while I was working on the computer, Cookie crawled up into her high chair and buckled herself in! So, if you have any baby proofing tips for a high chair please send them our way!

True of False...

...a couple falls in love, couple gets married and couple is now or divorcing. Husband and wife start slinging mud in divorce court and now the wife is demanding that $43 million is not enough to live on and that $53,000 a week in support WILL NOT cut it.

What do you think, is this story True or False? What would you do if you made $53,000 per week. Oh, just imagine all the diapers one could buy.

Praying to the Porcelain God

With Cookie #2 I have been doing my praying to the porcelain god! In other words, I have been spending a better part of this pregnancy in the bathroom [head down in the toilet] with good ol' 24/7 ALL DAY morning sickness.

Originally, my doctor prescribed me Phenergan. He warned me that it might make me a little sleepy but should do the trick. Let's just say, the word little was the understatement of the year. After a week of taking it, I found myself to be a sleepy (could barely life my head), Rookie Mom with ongoing morning sickness.

Not a good combination!

The Dr. had mentioned that there was an alternative medication called Zofran. Zofran was originally designed to control nausea in chemotherapy patients and that it is very expensive and many insurers won't cover it.

In a moment of desperation I called the Dr. and stated, "I do not care if the Zofran is $1,000 per pill, I need it! Pleeeeeaaaaassseeee!" He wrote my prescription and we were off to the pharmacy.

I was mentally prepared for my total to be the cost of a small country, but much to my surprise...

...the generic version was $17.99 for 30! Now that is the deal of the day.

For all Mother's to be, if you are experiencing morning sickness I encourage you to go for the good stuff! Ask for Zofran! It is a lifesaver.

That's It! I am Joining the PGA!

I guess Cookie has had enough of rainy days and sitting in the house with her (apparently not entertaining enough) parents. Her bag is packed...

Her swing has been perfected...

And the only advice that her dear sweet Rookie Mom can give her is, "Cookie, it really isn't necessary to taste the golf balls before each putt."

It's a work in progress, but we wish her well!

WHAT IS GLOBAL FOOD CRISIS DAY?
Compassion International is partnering with radio stations, media, churches and bloggers to spread the word about the Global Food Crisis and raise funds that will make a real difference to those impacted by it.

WHY IS THE CRISIS?
Overshadowed by recent political and financial economic news, the UN World Food Programme calls the current global food crisis “a phenomenon, a silent tsunami,” that is affecting millions of families in every nation on every continent. This global food crisis is more rapid, urgent and devastating than any other in the history of our planet.

WHY IS THE CRISIS HAPPENING?
The cost of food staples have roughly doubled in many countries where Compassion serves. Some of the original factors that turned this trend into a world calamity recently include unstable oil prices, increased meat consumption in countries like India and China, droughts in major crop-producing countries, and increased production of biofuels.

Jonas or Bust

Tomorrow my sister, my niece and I will enter a stadium filled with thousands of screaming Jonas brother loving tweens.

Of course it is only fitting that today we needed to shop for the perfect concert outfit and get the glow sticks ready. Who knows I might get a wild hair and shoe polish Jonas or Bust on the back of my minivan.

Should be interesting. Hopefully, we will not need to use our S.O.S signal.

Truth Be Told

I have not been a very good blogger over the last couple of weeks. Why? We have been on a "Big Sister" announcement tour. Yep, Cookie is going to be a Big Sister and we are all so thrilled to introduced Cookie #2...

The Hubby asked me if I was going to change the name of the blog now that we will have two little bambino's. I simply replied, "Oh, no I will just be a Rookie Mom with Two kiddos!"

I had no idea what I was doing with the first one and I definitely have NO idea what is in store for having two little ones!

Wish us luck! I am sure that this experience is going to create a lot of stories for this Rookie Mom to post. Over the last twelve weeks I have jotted down a few goods one to share such as, "Excuse Me While I Get My Head Out of the Toilet," the trials and tribulations of good old fashion ALL DAY morning sickness.

Fasten your seatbelt Rookie Mom readers, it is going to be a crazy pregnancy!

Have a safe and happy weekend!
