Introducing Cookie #2

The last two weeks have been a whirlwind as we prepared for Cookie #2's arrival. We just didn't think that she was actually going to arrive this past Friday! We were blessed with our new addition Saturday morning at 12:30 am weighing in at 6 lbs 11 oz, 18 3/4 inches long.

She is perfect and so healthy! We are so blessed to have two beautiful girls.

I am feeling great and have a few stories to tell, so get ready I will be posting about The Adventures in Labor Pains within the next couple of days. Today we are going to just enjoy our time together and reflect back on the last seventy-two hours.

Reality Check

It's official we are prepared for Cookie #2 to arrive. Well sorta. Are you ever really prepared? Cookie was so excited to see her sisters car seat in the car this morning.

I was excited to just have Cookie in the car at 7:30. With Cookie #2 growing more and more each day I am growing slower and slower. Putting the carseat in the car was the reality check that we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, or should I say, "Cookie is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel."

We will know on Friday at 3:15 if Cookie #2 will be arriving this weekend or if we will have to wait it out until the 9th. Needless, to say unless God turns down the air conditioning in TX, then I am rooting for a weekend delivery.

We will keep you all posted on her arrival and our sanity.

Dinner Time Faces

During dinner I decided to see if Cookie would share her best dinner time faces, and of course she did. Here are a few from our impromptu photo shoot.

The dinner time is fun time pose...

The hey look over there while I give my food to Charlie pose...

And of course the opps I pooped in my pants at the dinner table pose...

I can only wonder what a breakfast photo shoot will be like.

Maiden Voyage

With Cookie #2 arriving less than 3 1/2 weeks we have been so busy preparing for her arrival. On Saturday we decided to take a break and take Cookie for her first boat ride. I know, not the most ideal thing to do when you are 36 weeks preggers but hey why not? She will arrive, when she arrives. Besides I personally have never met anyone that has gone into labor going on a quick boat ride. I

Cookie and I put on our swim suits, loaded up a bag of gold fish and went for a icee run before we met the Hubby at the marina. When we arrived Cookie was a little skeptic but once she had her life jacket on, she was good to go. As for myself, I had no idea how this was going to go. I just knew that having Cookie and I on the boat with the Hubby was going to put a smile on his face all week.

Forty-Five minutes later we are proud to announce, the ride was a success! Cookie loved it and she was able to see her Daddy catch a fish as well.

Here are a couple of pics from Cookie's Maiden Voyage...

We hope that you all had a safe and happy weekend!

A Little Bedtime Tip

Tonight will mark the eighth night that Cookie is going to sleep in her big girl bed. We have managed to tackle the going to sleep part, it is the length part that we are still working on. Tonight we are shooting for a six am wake up call.

I would like to send a big shout out to my peeps at Fisher Price because this little thing-a-ma-jig (projector/music box) is hands down the best $19.95 I have ever spent...

Over the course of the last few nights Cookie has learned to turn it on and off as well as change the sounds. So far it really seems to be helping her go back to sleep.

If you are in the middle of transitioning your little ones to their big girl/boy beds I HIGHLY recommend this toy. Oh, and ear plugs work well to if you are the type that will let them just cry it out until they fall asleep. I can admit to testing both methods and hands down the toy is the much better approach.

On a side note I should apologize to Cookie's Papaw for the endless times he had to hear the music over the last few nights. We hope that you enjoyed your nap today and we appreciate all that you did while you stayed with us!

Ch Ch Ch Changes

They are in full force around the Cook household lately and Cookie is conquering each new event one at a time. Since last week we have been transitioning Cookie to her big girl bed full time, she is working on potty training, she is also transitioning to the Toddler II classroom and last but not least her little sister aka Cookie #2 is head down and ready to make an appearance on 9/10.

Here is just a quick recap of the last twenty-four hours...

At the beginning of the summer the Hubby and I discussed how we were going to tackle the bed transition, but in our wildest dreams we never thought that it would be comparable to late night feedings. Needless to say, Cookie has been thoroughly enjoying her new found freedom of getting out of bed and shouting her anthem, "Mommy I not tired, Mommy I not tired!"

As hard as it is, I am (we are partially) sticking to our guns and making her stick it out during the night. In other words we are back to playing the "I am the Mommy," game! So far the score is tied 2 to 2. Unfortunately, the teams were a little unfairly matched for a couple of nights, considering Cookie defeated me with the help of her Daddy. He just couldn't resist the snuggle time. Oh, well I think he is slowly but surely coming over to the Mommy side. I might have to leverage some additional garage time, but I will do what I need to do to be victorious.

On the potty training front, well this event just kind of happened. We have been practicing at home but definitely not consistent about it. More or less, just going through the introduction stages of introducing her to her new throne. However, yesterday we had a major turn of events.

Yesterday, was her first day in the two year old room for a couple of hours. During this two hours Cookie found her inspiration to tackle the potty. Inspiration in the form of other two year olds and a potty that was just her height and size! After nap time the teacher asked her if she wanted to try and it out and she did.

Later on in the evening, I glanced over to find Cookie bare back riding her little horse literally. A white tiny hiney and NO Diaper! I asked Cookie where her diaper was and she replied pointing to the restroom, "In there". When I went to retrieve it, I found that she had taken it off to go potty. I EXPLODED with excitement for Cookie and we did the potty dance for a good half hour. She was even more excited to show her Daddy.

Now there are no guarantees on what tomorrow will bring, but what a journey this is and look forward to many more big girl bed and potty training moments! Remember advice is always welcomed.

Biker Chick

Cookie had a great time being a "biker chick" this afternoon and was all smiles...

...until we made her come inside and then it was meltdown central. So, I did what any Mom would do, I put her to bed!

Now time a little R&R and chocolate cake for this [I feel like I am about to pop] Mom!

Ring Pops

They are the answers to long car trips. Baby Einstein + Ring Pops = A nice Quiet Car!

Of course they are not the answer to good teeth, but I will take my chances.
