Reality Check

The hubby and I went to the Dr. today for Cookie #2's check up. Her heart rate is good and we are now in the cycle of visits every two weeks. Hard to believe that we are getting closer and closer.

As our visit was wrapping up, the hubby had several questions he wanted to ask. Just your basic delivery questions and then he says, "Hey Doc what is the contingency plan if a hurricane should be near?"

Needless, to say my mind went into overdrive thinking about a hurricane coming while giving birth, in the dark. All, I could say was good thing epidurals do not require power!

Now, I am not going to do anything drastic and add Hurricane while birthing to my worry list just yet, but it was a reality check my friends.

Note To Self

When you have an uninterrupted hour to lay on a raft in a cold swimming pool when it is a 100 degrees outside, DO NOT FORGET to put on your sunscreen!

Or you will end up being pregnant and sunburnt for your nice family photo.

Word to the wise when you are living in Africa aka Texas during the summer months do not forget to wear your sunscreen no matter how excited you get to have a minute of R&R.

Happy Wednesday!

58 VS. 1

So, what do you give a man who is celebrating his 58th Father's Day and a man who is celebrating his 1st?

A good old fashion hand printed t-shirt...

And a Hand scribbled masterpiece...

I guess I should start thinking about 59 vs. 2? Nah, I will give myself another 364 days to think about it.

My Extended Mother's Day

This weekend, I was thrilled to find a Dr. Pepper Icee machine in my hometown. Okay truth be told, I was over the moon, super excited, tempted to make a special trip to get another one before my drive back home today, thrilled.

Even though it is Father's day it seems to be more like an extended Mother's day with all of the little discoveries, gifts and gestures from my loved ones.

First, I came home to find this from the hubby...

and then my Aunt Joan sent me a wondeful receipe for Grandma's Popsicles. Warning: Receipe not intended for non-carb eating, sugar free, weight watching Mamas. They are a CUP OF SUGAR goodness!

Grandma's Popsicles

1 pkg. jello
1 pkg. Kool Aid
1 c. sugar
2 c. boiling water
2 c. cold water

Mix all ingredients and freeze in popcycle molds.

Then, last but not least the Hubby did all the laundry by the time I got home!

The gifts just keep on coming. But of course to all the wonderful Daddy's out there, Happy Father's Day!

Can I Get A Boost?

Last Sunday marked another milestone in Cookie's adventurous 22 months of life. She officially transitioned from a high chair to a booster seat and all the patrons at IHOP were there to witness this event with us.

Cookie sat right next to me in the booth and enjoyed her pancakes as she sat high above the table. She even adventured into my hashbrowns. Sneaky, little devil.

I am pretty sure, that at this rate she might be ordering coffee next weekend. But until then I will do my best to pull the reigns back on her growing up to quickly.

Hard to believe that in less than ten weeks she will be a BIG sister. I did manage to snag her picture during snack time.

Pregnant Woman Must Have for Summer

Now that I am 29 weeks pregnant the summer heat is doing a number on this Rookie Mom. It is amazing how quickly you forget about the TX heat, swollen ankles and late night bathroom runs during your first pregnancy just long enough to conceive again.

Granted it was only a couple of years ago that I was carrying Cookie during a TX summer months, I am having a hard time remembering it being this hot.

With both my pregnancies I have not experienced a lot of cravings that is until a month ago when the heat started to rise. I have renewed my love for...

and...

Good Old Fashion homemade Popsicles. To off set my excess love for M&M's I am using sugar free lemonade and kool-aide. Cookie and I are both enjoying them.

Eleven more weeks to go, can I make it? My fingers are crossed but don't be surprised if you see a pregnant woman with her mouth wide open underneath a Icee machine. Hormones pluse the TX heat can make you do crazy things...

Cheers to keeping cool and your hormones in check.

Warning: Shadow's Can Be Dangerous

Cookie has been thoroughly enjoying her new school. From the water day to the snow cone treats, she is having a blast. A couple of weeks ago her class had a learning activity about Seeing Your Shadow. Cookie was so excited to see hers that she ended up kissing the pavement and came up with the boo boo of all boo boos. Right smack dab in the middle of her face...

As you can tell by the picture she is A-Okay now. Nothing a little Neosporin couldn't fix.

It Has Been A Whirlwind

This last week has been a whirlwind to say the least. So many changes in such a short amount could send just about any one running for the hills. Some how some way we are managing to keep it all together.

So in a nutshell this has been the life of the Cookies over the course of the last week and a half...

Gwen started a new school...calendar filling up quickly for summer...keeping up with Dr. appointments for Cookie #2...Father moves to our area from Dallas...traveled to NM to close out project...traveled to KS to begin project...travel, travel, travel...lights now out in hotel and writing this in the dark...hot water is now out...four weeks until vacation!

Happy Monday!
