Julie Hearts Peter

Instead of that two shot double latte why not donate your money to help a girl named Julie who is love with a boy named Peter.

Julie is a wife and mom of two great kids, with our 3rd on his way! Kai was born in 11/08 and Lilah in 3/10 and Peter 2/20. How do I know the due date of our newest bundle of joy? Because he is a four year old boy that lives on the other side of the world, just waiting for his Forever Family to come for him. He doesn't know it yet, but he will soon. I love advocating and educating to anyone who will listen about Down syndrome. And desperately trying to figure out how to be a mom to a girly-girl who thinks she is a bulldozer. Who would have ever thought having a child with DS would finally lead me to my passion in life? And that one little girl could baffle me so? Surely not me.

My favorite Julie quote, "I never knew I wanted a child with Down syndrome until I was given one!"

Here is where you can help. The Kehm family is having a laptop giveaway for our final push to get Peter home. $10 = 1 entry.

Help bring Peter home, you will be glad you did!

Baby Got Back

Apparently i-tunes is so 2009 and Pandora is so 2010. I am now a card carrying Pandora.com member and it feels so good (insert song in head).

The last twenty-four hours have been a sweet musical ride! From old school rap, to reliving my Robert Earl Keen days in Nacogdoches this website is now apart of me where ever I go. It has taught me the appreciation of mobile apps. Now TMZ has a friend in my apps folder next to Facebook and people.com. Social priorities, people.

Here are my stations.

Yep, one could say I that I like to keep my music diversified.

Oh and the best part about Pandora.com, it has given me a reason not to hate my treadmill as much. Let's face it Baby Got Back and Pandora.com will be with me every single mile.

Thanks Mr. website developers, a job well done!

The Real Woman

When I was young I never dreamed about walking the runway or being the next super model. My dreams were more geared to running the board room. So, I never really paid much attention to trends when it came to weight (then or now). Skinny, Plus sized, it didn't matter as long as that person felt good in their skin!

So I find it rather disturbing that this is the new plus size...

Yeah, Yeah designers want to be PC and have the exposure that all sizes make the runway but give me a break. Do you think that this woman really is a plus size? In my opinion she could easily represent the Real Woman. The woman all designers should keep in mind when designing their collections - The child rearing, cellulite loving, Spanx wearing Mamas.

Well, that little rant felt G double O D - Good. Now please excuse me while I go and put on my workout clothes (for a workout that may not happen), tie my hair in a bun and tackle another fun filled potty training Sunday.

A Little G.T.L. Without the T

In case you might be hiding under a rock and have not been in touch with the main stream (useless but just can't resist) entertainment media, my title may just be throwing you off a little. So allow me to explain.

GTL is the marketing sensation from our friends at MTV and it all went down at the Jersey Shore. It may be so 2009 but it is here to stay for at least another fist pumping season. The G is for Gym, the T is for Tanning and the L is for a term that we have to do a little to often - Laundry.

Today I found myself experiencing a little G.T.L. without the situations. Recently I switched gyms to a one a little closer to home, well and to be honest it was a little (much) cheaper. Today was my first day to actually have my membership card swiped in 45 days, not that I am counting or anything.

Truth be told, my credit card statement actually reminded me that, maybe I might want to check it out, since I am paying for it after all. The scale also reminded me that I was hurting his back and I needed to stepped off. Since Mr. Honest Scale showed me what I didn't want to see, I did his back a favor and put him back under the bathroom sink upstairs far far far away from my kitchen pantry.

My new gym is a little different from my last to say the least. The dudes look a little something like this...

and the women a little more like this...

When the techno song came on during spin class, I was betting money that at any minute that the dude next to me was going to jump off of his bike with his gold chain, sleeveless t-shirt, slick back hair and start giving the class a little fist pumping action. Unfortunately, he didn't but there is always Thursday's class.

As for the T (tanning), well that membership expired in 1999 when I came to my senses and realized that I could spend my tanning money on the finer things in a college, like cheap wine and late night Whataburger. On a side note, now that my glory days in college are behind me I am pleased to announce that I have moved on to more sophisticated types of wine that do not come in packs of four or boxes, that my metabolism can no longer handle late night Whataburger runs and last but not least I now understand the benefits of using sunscreen.

After all, I do not want to look like this in the next ten years.

And for the L, well it is still sitting at the bottom of my washing machine just waiting to be washed.

Maybe I will just make it a G kind of day.

Blame It On the Alcohol

We live in the burbs where we are close to a local grocery store, a nail salon and of course the neighborhood liquor store. On Friday we stopped by our local liquor store to pick up a few of Daddy treats.

Apparently, Bud Light is so 2008 and the Hubby has turned into somewhat of a sophisticated Beer drinker. I guess a keg of beer and a dixie cup are a thing of the past. But hey, after a week alone with the kiddos I couldn't blame him.

As, I waited in the back of the liquor store in the Hubby's VIP parking spot (next to the dumpster) I noticed that someone may have just been testing out their own merchandise when they labeled the back door...

I guess I should also mention that this is the same liquor store that shoe polished their store windows with the the tag line of...

LET US HELP YOU GET THROUGH THE DAY

When they first open their doors.

Classy! In the words of Jamie Foxx, I guess they can really just blame their marketing/labeling decisions on the Alcohol.

My Peeps

Dare I say it, it has been over ten (plus) years since we all pledge AXO! Even though the years have come and gone since graduation and our little college town has now been invaded by Starbucks, and taco bueno's it still feels the same as it did back in the Fall of 1996.

A month ago we had the opportunity to have a girls weekend. We laughed until we cried, [of course at my expense of falling through a chair and the college girl complaining about her weight being stuck at 115 - but that is a different post], we danced all night, enjoyed our late night Whataburger and unfortunately realized that cheap liquor and a 3 AM (bed time) just isn't the same on our bodies.

Bottom line, it was a blast catching up with my peeps and reliving our good ol' SFA days despite the fact that we were now rolling down north street in our Mom mobiles!

Don't let the lipstick full you - we are a crazy bunch! Though distance may keep us apart we will continue to keep the party going.

Jon & Kate + Whatever

Just saying...

Maybe the kiddos should put the parents in a timeout. A very long timeout!

Their disputes really make you ponder the saying, "There are two sides to every story." Seems like both sides are getting a lot of air time.

Maybe they should do the celebrity boxing show next?

The Sullivans

Since I started blogging, I have had the opportunity to befriend some great bloggers! In one way or another we all have a common interest of juggling this thing call domesticated Bliss one day at a time. Some posts are good, some are wacky, some are sad and sometimes we post just to find the answer to life's tough questions such as, how to get poop out of a onesie or how to get our husbands to put down the toilet set? At the end of the day Blogging has helped us to share our stories of life, love and inspiration!

Today I would like to post about the Sullivan's. The Sullivan's are a beautiful family who were blessed with a beautiful little girl this month named Chloe. There story is one that should be shared. Their story reminds us that the beauty of life is living it and living it to the fullest. Obstacles will happen but miracles will overcome them! Never sweat the small stuff because at the end of the day, it really is just small stuff.

Please take the time today to read about Brad, Sarah and Chloe and pass their story along.

Word to the Wise

I have found that with my second pregnancy that it is a completely different experience than with Cookie. The morning sickness has been rough, my tummy is much bigger and I had to bust out the maternity pants much sooner.

I think that the hormonal icing on the cake is that today the Barista at Starbucks asked me if I was having twins when I told her that I was only five months. Ugggghhhhhh! Needless, to say it didn't help that I was drooling over a apple fritter.

So I thought I would share a word to the wise this morning and post the top ten things that you really shouldn't say to a pregnant lady.

  1. "Hey there, big mama!"

  2. "My God, you're enormous! Are you sure you're not having twins?"

  3. "Well, looks like the boob fairy has visited you!"

  4. "Should you be eating that?"

  5. "You shouldn't be feeling so tired/cranky/insert-symptom-here. You're not that pregnant yet."

  6. "So, are you still with the father?"

  7. "How do you walk without falling forward?"

  8. "Are you gonna get fixed after this one?"

  9. "Enjoy sleep/time to yourself/insert-any-enjoyable-activity-here now, because you'll never get any once the baby comes!"

  10. From any husband or SO (or anyone else for that matter): "Yeah, this pregnancy has been really hard on me, too." Please!

True of False...

...a couple falls in love, couple gets married and couple is now or divorcing. Husband and wife start slinging mud in divorce court and now the wife is demanding that $43 million is not enough to live on and that $53,000 a week in support WILL NOT cut it.

What do you think, is this story True or False? What would you do if you made $53,000 per week. Oh, just imagine all the diapers one could buy.
