While I was away on business Cookie apparently was perfecting her escape routine.
This morning as we prepared to leave for school, I thought I would test Cookie and see if she would actually show off her escape techniques in front of me...
...she did
Thank goodness for the doggie door cover and the timeout chair, without them our chance for Parents of the Year would be shot.

Our Little Escape Artist
For the past seventy two hours we have been on our toes in the Cook household. Why, you may ask? Because of this...
Yep, our little Cookie has officially earned the title of Doggie Door Escapee 2009. One slip through the door and she is off to the races.
Grandparents beware! Do not let the length of her legs fool you. This kid is fast! Just ask her Daddy.

It is Not The Size of a Man's Bouquet That Counts
I have never been one for Valentine's day. Don't get me wrong I think that it is magnificent that there is a day devoted to hearts, love and candy. On the other hand I would hate to think that it was the ONLY day in the year that the hubby and I did something nice for one another to show our love.
I prefer the little things like an unexpected mornings when I have slept in, a sweet unexpected card in my travel bag or leaving the hubby nice little notes on his bathroom mirror written in lipstick.
However, this Valentine day was a little different than most. This year we treated ourselves to a nice little getaway. The hubby skied and I enjoyed some much needed R&R. On Monday we were both blessed with a work holiday and spent the day together while Cookie was at school.
Around noon the hubby surprised me with a nice bouquet of flowers. Not just any bouquet a nice, simple, $5.00 bouquet.
If the hubby has learned anything about this Rookie Mom is that I love a good surprise of recession proof flowers. This gesture really fills my heart with joy because I know that he has searched, and hunted for the best deal to surprise little ol' (penny pinching) me.
Besides, who couldn't love a man with a heart and a face like this...
...because together we are blessed with this precious flower!

Snow Baby
Cookie had a wonderful time in the snow this past weekend. At first she was a little hesitant but before we knew it she was testing it out. She even conquered the tram ride to the top of the mountain. Cookie was so bundled, she reminded me of the little brother on A Christmas Story.
This Rookie Mom on the other hand, did not care for the tram as much. Just something about being in a capsule, hanging by a cable, with twenty other strangers with nothing below us but rocks and rocks and more rocks. Here is a picture of the tram...
The view was beautiful and it is definitely something that you should try (at least once) if you are in New Mexico.
The hubby had a wonderful time skiing and the trip was just what we needed. As for the plane ride home, the first leg of the trip was a little hectic when we landed.
Cookie made sure to alert everyone on the plane that she had landed and wasn't to happy about it. Needless to say, I guess these passengers didn't realize that their flight tickets also came with birth control.
Oh well, what can you do? Have baby will travel.

A Hubby, One Cookie and An Airplane
Now picture this...
...a wife and hubby plan an unexpected weekend away. The tickets are booked, the room is reserved and the packing list is prepared. The hubby packs the bags and prepares for the trip to the airport.
The departure day is here and the hubby arrives at the airport to unload the bags, car seat and Cookie into the park in ride van in route for curbside check in. The bags are checked and the security line is conquered.
Line A begins to board and the hubby finds a nice row in the back, very back of the plane. The flight departs and Cookie...POOPS!
The hubby decides he will tackle the poop escapade head on and asks the stewardess which lavatory has the changing table. She explains, "Sir, it is located in the front of the plane." The hubby (slowly) walks to the front of the plane for all to smell the [not so] sweet scents emerging from Cookie.
Five minutes later the Hubby becomes a proud member of the mile high diaper changing club. One hour and thirty minutes later the plane lands. Mission accomplish!
The Hubby and Cookie safely arrive to meet this Rookie Mom who has been in NM all week for business!
Lesson learned: Never under estimate what your hubby's are capable of. Just give them the task of flying solo with your little ones and they will find Daddy strengths they never knew they had.
Have a safe and happy weekend!

I Would Like To Think...
...that Cookie was crying because she missed her Mom soooooooooooooooo much, while I am away on business. But, my nice little - how will they survive without me - moment was busted when the reality sunk in that she was really just missing her evening bottle.
This little "Miss Independence" maybe a little tougher than I think.

One Mess Equals Very Clean Floors
It's official we have our first Cookie mess. The how many wipes are in a container type of mess.
The hubby and I chuckled as we watched Cookie carefully pull the last remaining wipes and carefully place them on her chair, on the table, under the cabinet, in her play pin and only the lord knows where else.
As I continued to watch in amazement and snap away, the hubby's think tank was just spinning.
He backed away and said, "Honey, I got it! I will use the wipes to clean the hardwood floors today."
So he did! Every square inch, just like this...
As Daddy cleaned, Cookie decided to hang with her friend!
So, this weekend if you find your little pulling out their wet wipes, do not panic because we have found that baby wipes are not only great bum wipers but also excellent, floor, table and window cleaners!
Have a safe and happy weekend everyone.

Professionalism With a Capital "P"
This video is pretty amazing! It will make the hairs on your arms stand up when you hear how calm, cool and collected the pilot is as he communicates with air traffic control.
The professionalism of this crew is outstanding and the acknowledgment of their efforts is well deserved!

From Momarazzi to Wife of a Pro Bowler
I think Cookie was starting to wonder why the MOMARAZZI hasn't been following her around lately. This weekend I found her pointing at the camera lens and talking up a storm...
I think she was more or less saying, "Mom, put the work down and take my picture...
...NOW!"
So, I did!
Meanwhile as the Momarazzi was wiping the dust off of my camera the hubby was turning into a 2009 Wii Pro Bowler.
How is that for a weekend, I reconnected with my camera and became the proud wife of a Pro Bowler. Not to shabby!
